What We Believe
At Harbor Life, we believe that the church is called to be more than simply a “place” people “go to” once a week. Rather, when we read the words of the New Testament and its description of the church, we see a much bigger vision — A vision of all believers, growing in their love of God and one another, on a mission to join God in the work He’s doing in the world.
When the Bible describes the church, it doesn’t describe a building, it describes a movement. This vision inspires us to “do church” a bit differently – by “being the church.”
And so, from our beginning, we were committed to a specific mission: To help all people find their way back to God … and … to create the kind of community where people who have never been to church, or who have been hurt by a church experience, would feel safe.
We believe that there is only one true God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and that God has called us to be a family of believers serving Him. We believe God created the universe, redeemed us through Jesus Christ, and empowers us through the Holy Spirit. We believe that there is only one way to eternal life, and that is through Jesus Christ, God’s Son. If you want to get technical about it, we hold to an evangelical and Reformed understanding of the Christian Faith.
We strive to serve God through expressive worship, personal transformation, and credible witness.
We think that Jesus sums it up best when He says in the 14th chapter of John verse 6, “I am the way and the truth and life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
To put it simply: We believe in Jesus — and that the life He has to offer REALLY IS the best way to live. So … we talk about that and try to follow Him.
There’s no need to be an expert in the Bible before you get here. We’ll introduce you to Jesus and we’ll take each step with you along the way. In fact, if you’d like a Bible to check things out for yourself, just let us know. We’ll hook you up.
